Check out Friday Nights at NOMA this evening over at the New Orleans Museum of Art beginning at 5:00 pm and celebrate the weekend! The event is FREE with museum admissions. Tonight it's READING WITH BRAD AND JIM RICHARD: CURTAIN OPTIONAL. Tonight NOMA celebrates the exhibition Jim Richard: Make Yourself at Home with a reading by the artist and his son, Brad Richard. $10 Adults, $8 seniors, students, active military, $6 children ages 17 to 7, children 6 and under are free.

Saturday night it's The New Orleans Nightingales at Preservation Hall (726 St. Peter) from 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm!! It's going to be a magical evening with these lovely ladies - Featured vocalists are Meschiya Lake, Lena Prima and Ingrid Lucia.
There's a triple header over on Frenchmen Street at The Maison (508 Frenchmen) with the The Ben Slater Group at 4:00 pm, Smoking Time Jazz Club at 7:00 pm and the Russian sounds of Debauche tops off the evening at 10:30 pm.

Nothing like some Bloody Marys and some great music! And there's more great brunch and food over on the Avenue at the Columns Hotel (3811 St. Charles Ave.) with guitarist Chip Wilson...I'm sure he'll be singing about gin and mimosas!!
There's an early and late show over at Three Muses (536 Frenchmen) - come early for the French sounds Raphael Bas & Norbert Slama at 5:30 and stay on for Debbie Davis at 9:00 pm! Delicious food and great music!!
There's more brass in the Warehouse District over at the Howlin' Wolf - "The Den" (901 S. Peters) with Brass Band Sundays with The Hot 8 Brass Band playing at 9:30 pm! (I'm guessing there's a cover)

Happy Thursday w/Non-Stop Holiday Events - Christmas Is On!

Holiday Fun!
Enjoy the sounds of the season at the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Louis in Jackson Square. Produced by French Quarter Festivals, Inc., the St. Louis Cathedral Concerts feature a variety of New Orleans artists including well-known jazz, classical, and gospel musicians. Beloved holiday classics and gospel favorites will be performed in one of the country's most beautiful and historic churches. Tonight's concert is the St. Peter Claver Gospel Choirfrom 6:00 to 7:00 pm.
Celebrate the season at Lafreniere Park (3000 Downs Boulevard) - The annual “Holiday in the Park” The beautiful light display is nightly from dusk 'til 9:45 pm and admission is $3 a car. New displays include a 60' sea serpent in the Lagoon, a Princess and her Castle, and more, in addition, to our traditional favorites - The park comes alive for the holidays with thousands of twinkling lights and displays.
And there's more holiday fun at City Park with Celebration in the Oaks! The Celebration runs nightly through January 1st - Sunday thru Thursday from 6:00 pm to 10:00pm and Friday & Saturday 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm (closed Christmas Eve and New Years Eve). There are fabulous new exhibits, nightly entertainment, synthetic ice skating rink, amusement park rides. Need a little art, culture and music? You gotta go to the show at the Ogden Southern Museum of Art (925 Camp St.) - better known as Ogden after Hours. The concert kicks off at 6:00 pm as the Ogden presents THE NEW ORLEANS NIGHTINGALES HOLIDAY CELEBRATION. The New Orleans Nightingales is the brainchild of Ingrid Lucia and is a showcase of the best and brightest female singers New Orleans has to offer. Steeped in the musical traditions of early American jazz, the ladies of the New Orleans Nightingales bring new life to the 100-year-old art form through new compositions, vibrant live performances and a commitment to the idea that traditional jazz music is still evolving! Tonight the O BAR's celebrates the holiday season with The O Martini *Remember with your Ogden membership all of these excellent concerts are FREE!!! And....my hubby Bill deTurk will be doing the interview today - so you definitely don't want to miss it!
The Amazing Acro-Cats Meowy Christmas Show Purrrforming Circus Cats!
December 12 - 23, Wednesday and Thursday at 7pm, Fridays at 7pm and 10pm, Saturdays at 4pm, 7pm, 10pm, Sunday at 4pm and 7pm at the Shadowbox Theatre (2400 St. Claude)
*Samantha Martin and her fantastic felines will be celebrating the Holiday Season with their Meowy Christmas Show. These special shows add a delightful festival spirit to what has already proven to be a one-of-a-kind, fun filled show for people of all ages. Over a dozen yuletide cats will leap through wreaths, ride skateboards and much much more; plus, there will be a special musical purrformance by Tuna and the Rockcats - the worlds only all cat band! Real cats playing real musical instruments and doing amazing Christmas tricks! Doors open 30 minutes prior to showtime, and tickets are available both online and at the door. Seating is limited so advance tickets are recommended. No late seating will be permitted - it distracts the cats! MEOUX!! Tickets $18 adults, $15 for children 12 and under.
