You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!  Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm for the freshest veggies, fruits and seafood.This month the Market welcomes Purloo to the Green Plate Special. Look forward to Creole tomato, goat cheese, and roasted vegetable quiche, arugula and cantaloupe salad with pickled watermelon rind, and an allspice vinaigrette, grilled summer corn with lime, cojita cheese & chiles, and refreshing watermelon and basil sodas.

This month the Market welcomes Cafe' Hope to the GPS tent for April! They have outdone themselves with this Tuesday’s menu! Can't wait to try the omargherita soup with fresh mozzarella & basil, slow roasted pork over sautéed kale & swiss chard w/ strawberries, grilled lemongrass tofu & julienned vegetable salad with chili-lime vinaigrette or strawberry shortcake with whipped cream....yum!!!

Musical Movie Fun!

"Musically Speaking:" free screening of Soul to Soul tonight at the Antenna Gallery (3718 St. Claude Ave.) at 7:00 pm - On March 6, 1971, some of the greatest artists in popular music history traveled from the United States to Ghana, West Africa, to take part in a 14-hour musical celebration of the 14th anniversary of the independence of that country. Over 100,000 enthusiastic locals gathered for this unique cultural exchange between two continents. The award-winning film combines classic concert performances with scenes documenting the artists getting in touch with their roots as they return to the cultural motherland. With Wilson Pickett, Ike and Tina Turner, Santana, the Staple Singers, Willie Bobo, Les McCann, Eddie Harris, and the Voices of East Harlem.
MUSICALLY SPEAKING is a series of music-themed movie and documentary screenings, curated/hosted by DJ Soul Sister, and co-presented by Press Street, Charitable Film Network, WWOZ FM, and the N.O. African American Museum. Free admission and refreshments. Contact info@press-street.com

There's a great musical evening on the Avenue at the The Columns (3811 St. Charles Ave.) at 8:00 p.m. tonight!  Have a fancy cocktail and listen to The New Orleans Guitar Quartet, with Cranston Clements, Phil DeGruy, John Rankin, and Jimmy Robinson, as they once again breathe fire into an otherwise normal Tuesday.

Head on over to Mid-City and to Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) for  Johnny Sansone and John Fohl at 8:00 pm - don't miss out and come hungry for a Sammich!

Have some fun at the Allways Lounge (2240 St. Claude) with the All-Star Covered-Dish Country Jamboree starting at 9:00 pm with   Phil The Tremelo King + Chad Crumb + The Western Sweethearts. See you there!

You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!  Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm for the freshest veggies, fruits and seafood. Today for the Green Plate Special Chef Anne Churchill goes all out with a declicious menu - choose from duck and andouille gumbo with Cajun Grain rice or vegan mushroom boudin with a side of raw cauliflower salad or market veggies. For dessert, she'll have chocolate flourless cake with chicory coffee sauce. Visit the Green Plate Special tent this Tuesday to get your fill of Anne's healthy, hearty fare...yum.

Today for the Green Plate Special Woody's Fish Tacos is back with a special addition - Fête/Chef La Mason, a farm-to-table catering business tailored to its clients’ diet and lifestyle. It's taco day with either black bean, pulled pork, sauteed shrimp or fish (his namesake) tacos, as well as Chef La's delicious market sides......Yum!

And if you want more fresh veggies head on over to the Hollygrove Market.   You can go by their location at 8301 Olive Street between Noon and 6:00 pm, and they have a new pick-up location and from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Rosa F. Halloween Spooky Fun!!

It's the Hallow's Eve - Costume Party/Halloween Show/and Celebration of Lefty's Birthday tonight at 10:00 pm at the Saturn Bar (3067 St. Claude)!! You've got music with the Lonely Lonely Knights featuring King Louie and Mitch Palmer (as in evry tuesday Knight the boys rock, LOUD). Then more music from Bipolaroid (these guys are probably even louder and more psychedelic than Halloween can hold!) And even more music from JW, Spooky Soul DJ of Euclid Records. To top it off a zombie kissing booth and some cold drinks..it's gonna be one scary night!!
