Wednesday Fun at the Square, in Treme and All Around Town!

Happy Wednesday!

The 2011 HARVEST THE MUSIC CONCERT SERIES continues today!!!

The free concert series benefits the Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans & Acadiana....Every WEDNESDAY, through October 24 from 5:00 pm to  7:30 pm at LAFAYETTE SQUARE!!

In addition to a free, weekly concert, concert-goers will enjoy food and drinks for purchase (no outside food or drinks, please) from local favorites including: Café Adelaide, CRÊPES À LA CART, Lucy's Retired Surfers Bar and Restaurant, Martin Wine Cellar, Metairie Deli/Bistro, Ms. Linda THE YA-KA-MEIN LADY, Oceana Grill, Squeal BAR-B-Q and Second Harvest Food Bank Community Kitchen. An artists' village will feature artwork and crafts from regional artists and designers, all available for purchase.

Here's the line-up for the series!!!

Octpber 17 - North Mississippi Allstars with Alvin Youngblood Hart and Lightnin’ Malcolm + Young Pinstripe Brass Band
October 24 - Rebirth Brass Band + Mississippi Rail Company

Experience an Evening of Cultural Indulgences at it's new location in the  Irvin Mayfield I Club at the JW Marriott (614 Canal Street) from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tonight's event features Paul Boudreaux with art Expressions of Music and New Orleans - plus the DJ stylings of Kermit Ruffins, and a spirit tasting with complimentary hors d’oeuvres....Make a purchase of $1,000 or more by our Local Artist tonight and the JW Marriott will give you a 1 night complimentary stay in the Presidential Bi-Level Suite a $1,500 value!! (Parking is available at a special event Rate of $5 on Common Street)

Celebrate the bicentennial of the Treme Neighborhood with a week's worth of events for Treme 200. Tonight the celebration continues at 5:00 p.m. for the Candlelight Block Party-Robertson, Dumaine and St. Philip Streets. Check out performances from the Tremé Brass Band and more music from Judah Clan DJs!

If you're all revved up from all your early evening fun...check this out...

Head on over to Frenchmen Street for a double header of music at d.b.a. (618 Frenchmen) - They've got an early show with the Tin Men at 7:00 pm, and be sure to stay on for Walter "Wolfman" Washington at 10:00 pm - there's a $5 cover, but you know the Wolfman is worth it!

Have fun in Mid-City when you head on over to Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) for some happy hour drinks and stay on for  Debbie Davis and Tom McDermott at 7:00 pm and stick around for The Geraniums at 9:30 - it's a great evening of music! Come hungry - the kitchen is kickin' with pizza and all kinds of yummy food!

And there's more fun in Mid-City over at the Banks Street Bar (4401 Banks)!  Tonight it's Wednesday night regular Major Bacon and as always they got some FREE BLTs - tonight at 10:00 pm...you can never get enough of the bacon and no cover!!

Looking for some dinner and then some music for dessert?  Rock 'N Bowl (3016 S. Carrollton) can help you out!  Get an entree' over at Ye Olde College Inn and then get a half price ticket to the show right next door at Rock N' Bowl....Tonight - swing the night away with Jerry Embree at 8:30 pm!!
