A Wednesday with Tales, Carousels and the Symphony!!

Good Morning Everybody - is it time for a cocktail yet?

Skip out of work a little early today and go for a spin on the carousel, the bar that is!   You can double your party fun with the Countdown to the 10th Anniversay of Tales of the Cocktail celebration and the grand re-opening of The Carousel Bar at the Hotel Monteleone (214 Royal).

*The fun starts with the official re-opening at 1:30 pm, the countdown to Tales of the Cocktail begins at 2:00 pm, and enjoy a performance by Robin Barnes from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  In honor of the grand re-opening, the Carousel  Bar will have complimentary Buffalo Trace Old Fashioneds!!

The St. Louis Cathedral will be filled with music tonight at 7:30 pm for the Annual Concert with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra - Becoming American: The Musical Journey, the sixth installment of Musical Louisiana: America's Cultural Heritage sponsored by The Historic New Orleans Collection.  This concert is FREE and open to the public. Selections for the concert will trace the evolution of regional musical tastes from the early 19th century to the modern age. An affinity for European masters, including familiar names like Beethoven and Bellini, melded with Caribbean and African influences over time to introduce a brand-new style: jazz.

**Featured performers include the LPO's principal Conductor Carlos Miguel Prieto, classical pianist Peter Collins, jazz pianist James Dapogny, local anchor Angela Hill as narrator, young-artist-in-residence and organist Thomas Ospital, and soprano Alissa Rowe. There's great music this evening on Frenchmen Street tonight at d.b.a. (618 Frenchmen) catch the early show at 7:00 pm with The Tin Men - and stay on for Walter "Wolfman" Washington at 10:00 pm - cover's only $5.00 and you know the Wolfman's worth it!

The Spotted Cat (623 Frenchmen) has an afternoon and evening filled with music!!  Brett Richardson at 4:00, The Orleans 6 at 6:00 pm and top off the night with St. Louis Jim & The Frenchmen St. Jug Band!

Hang out in Mid-City for all kinds of good stuff tonight - first stop Banks Street Bar (4401 Banks)!  Come on out for some Major Bacon and some FREE BLTs - tonight at 10:00 pm...you can never get enough of the bacon and no cover!!

Have more fun in Mid-City when you head on over to Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) for a triple header of amazing music with the Sweet Olive String Band at 5:30, Tom McDermott and Aurora Nealand at 8:00 pm and then top it off with Freddie Stevenson and Julia Haltigan at 10:00 pm!  And come hungry - the kitchen is kickin' with pizza and all kinds of yummy food!

Lookin' for some dinner and then some music for dessert?  Rock 'N Bowl (3016 S. Carrollton) is the place!  Get some yummy dinner over at Ye Olde College Inn and then get a half price ticket to the show right next door at Rock N' Bowl....Tonight they've got Swing-A-Roux at 8:30 pm - you'll be dancing the night away!


The Circle Bar (1032 St. Charles) is back open and there's another great show tonight!!  Check out Eric Lindell at 10:00 pm...it's going to be a fun one on the Circle!!
