David Torkanowsky is recognized as one of the finest contemporary jazz pianists in New Orleans. Things just seem to sizzle when David is playing his piano.! Tonight the Ogden presents Ernie Vincent - New Orleans own Funk'n Blues living legend Ernie Vincent is mounting a powerful resurgence in the Crescent City as of late. A product of New Orleans rhythm and blues, Ernie Vincent has been on the music scene since the mid 1960's, playing r&b/funk and collaborating with the likes of Ernie K-Doe, King Floyd, Tommy Ridgley, Oliver Morgan, Irving Bannister, Eddie Bo, Jessie Hill and more! Check out the Canstruction Exhibition - The AIA New Orleans will begin a month-long exhibition of sculptures and pictograms made entirely of canned goods with a reception tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at their Center for Design (1000 St. Charles Ave.). This year's "Canstruction" features the theme "10,000 reasons to love New Orleans;" each structure, donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank, is built with the intention of providing 10,000 canned meals. The overall goal of Canstruction is to collect 100,000 meals.

The concert will be filmed, and a multitrack recording made. Be a part of this exciting concert and event!

A Tuesday Farmer's Market and Good Music!
Good morning and happy Tuesday!
Farmer's Market!
You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!!! Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm. This month the Market welcomes Chris Gerica, daughter of Pete and Clara Gerica, one of their beloved fisher families at market, to the GPS tent. Today she'll have a market fresh salad topped with crabmeat, sautéed fish over fresh vegetables, seafood and meat jambalaya, and boiled shrimp - plus cupcakes and strawberry lemonade for a sweet treat. Swing by the market this Tuesday and pick up lunch, or dinner!

And there's a great evening on the Avenue, because it's another lovely southern night for porch sitting and music over at the The Columns (3811 St. Charles Ave.) from 8:00 to 11:00 pm...Have a fancy cocktail and listen to the guitar stylings of John Rankin.
Head on over to Mid-City and to Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal)! They've got the Sweet Olive String Band at 5:00 pm, and be sure to stay on for Tommy Malone on guitar and Bill Malchow on piano at 8:00 pm - come hungry for delicious pizza, pasta, salads and more!!

New Orleanians are showing their angst over a plan to reduce their daily newspaper to a three-day a week publishing schedule by holding a protest today at 4 p.m. at Rock' N Bowl (3000 S.Carrollton Avenue). The purpose of the protest is to send a message to the Newhouse owners, especially Steven Newhouse of Advance.net, that the resurgent city needs a daily paper. Today is the day many Times Picayune employees will find out if they are invited to stay on as workers. The event is a tailgate. Individuals are invited to the parking lotof the local Rock N Bowl, at 4 p.m. until sunset. Individuals are invited to bring their paper and read the news. Our message is clear: Publish Every Day or Sell the Paper AND LET SOMEONE ELSE DO IT!?

Thursday w/Wine, Concerts and Honeypots!
Good Morning Everybody - it's a lovely day and there's lots of good stuff goin' on!

Don't miss out on the weekly wine tasting at Cork and Bottle (3700 Orleans) about 5:00 pm in Mid-City. Come sample some delicious vinos and kick off your early weekend right! You can also stop at Clever (right next door - don't even have to walk outside) for their happy hour specials after attending the free wine tasting! And be sure to stop by the Crescent City Farmer's Market (right outside the door) and patronize local Louisiana vendors with fresh veggies, seafood and more!!
Go hang out at City Park this evening and enjoy music from Smokin' Time Jazz Club for the Thursdays at Twilight Garden Concert Series! Enjoy the sweet, sensuous, seductive sounds of The Smoking Time Jazz Club, New Orleans Classic Jazz and Blues a la Jelly Roll Morton and King Oliver! Gates open up at 5:00 pm and the performance starts at 6:00 pm in the City Park Botanical Garden Pavilion of the Two Sisters...There is an admission charge, but hey, it's helping the Park out...$10 for adults and $3 for children (it was $3 last year :)
The Armstrong Park Thursdays big finale concert is tonight with Cyril Neville, the Baby Boyz Brass Band and DJ Quickie Mart! The concerts runs from 5 to 7 p.m. and come hungry - there will be food from Café Treme, Wine and Bistro, Jacques-Imo's Café, and more...Fun!! (Ok - I'm getting mixed news - I'm hearing Allen Toussaint is tonight! Guess you'll have to go and find out!)
Need a little art, culture and music? You gotta go to the show at the Ogden Southern Museum of Art (925 Camp St.) - better known as Ogden after Hours. Tonight the Ogden presents Kelcy Mae - Combining traditional Southern bluegrass and country instrumentation with an acoustic independent rock sound, Kelcy Mae hits a pitch-perfect balance! And tonight the O BAR's specialty drink is The Mint Julep - Seersucker, white linen and mint juleps -- summer has arrived. The O Bar will concoct a refreshing julep to rival those served at the Kentucky Derby!!
After all the early concerts, be sure to head on down to Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) for an amazing evening of lovely singers - with the acoustic sounds of the Honeypots at 8:00 pm! To top it off it's the CD Release Party for "Something Sweet"!! Be sure to grab your autographed copy tonight!
